○ 기획의도
- 현재 제주도는 짧은 시간동안 과도한 인구 유입에 따른 무분별한 개발과 인간의 지나친 욕심으로 급속도로 심각한 자연파괴가 진행되고 있다.
이에 예술행위를 통해 자연파괴에 대한 지구변화에 대한 경종을 울리고자 한다.
 
- 유네스코 자연분야 3관왕(생물보존지역, 세계자연유산, 세계지질공원)으로 선정된 천혜의 자연환경을 갖춘 제주도의 자연훼손을 최소화하여 후세대에게 온전하게 물려주는 것은 예술가뿐 아니라 현시대의 모든 사람들이 해야 할 의무이다. 

- 생태는 인간의 삶은 물론 동물과 식물 모두를 포함한 삶의 현장이다. 다양한 장르의 예술인들이 다양한 시각에서 생태의 가치를 예술로 표현함으로써 인간중심 사고에서 벗어난 자연과의 교감과 상생의 메시지를 미학적으로 대중과 공감할 수 있도록 한다. 
자연과 인간의 아름다운 공존에 대한 메시지를 전파함으로서 자연의 보존과 의미를 되새기게 함

- JIEAF는 생태 테마 프로젝트를 향후 10년 이상 지속적으로 심도 있게 연구하고자 하며 매년 예술제 진행과정을 사진, 영상, 문헌으로 기록함으로써 제주의 생태예술 발전의 토대 및 아카이브로서의 중요한 가치를 세계의 예술인들과 함께 만들어가고자 한다. 

○the intention of the festival

-Currently, Jeju Island is rapidly undergoing severe natural destruction due to indiscriminate developement that is caused by excessive population inflow and excessive human greed. In response, we attemps to raise the alarm of global change against natural destruction through the performance art.

-It is the duty of not only artists but also all people of the present age to pass down nature intact to our next generation by minimizing natural damage of Jeju Island, which is the gift of nature, which has been selected as the three-time winner in UNESCO's natural field (Biosphere Reserve, World Natural Heritage, and Global Geopark). 

-Ecology is the site of life, including both animals and plants, as well as human life. It makes the public to aesthetically empathize the message of communion and co-existence with nature after deviating from human-centered thinking as artists of various genres expresse the value of ecology by art from various perspectives. It reminds us the preservation and meaning of nature by spreading the message about the beautiful coexistence of nature and human.

-JIEAF will continue to study ecological theme project in depth for the next 10 years or more and will make important values as the foundation and archive of Jeju's ecological art development by recording the progress of the art festival in photographs, images and literature with artists from all over the world every year.
